From Catalog to Infrastructure: How the Nornda North American Project Evolved Into a Data Transformation

At the outset, the objective seemed straightforward: develop a North American catalog for Nornda’s family of brands—Rollmaster, Romac, and JP. But as with many impactful projects, what began as a defined deliverable quickly revealed a much larger opportunity.

Understanding the Market Gap

As an Australian-based company, Nornda offers an extensive range of parts engineered for markets with different vehicle applications and standards than those in North America. Before any catalog could be developed, a critical first step emerged: determining which products were actually relevant for the North American market.

This required a careful evaluation of their existing product lines—filtering, aligning, and refining the offering to ensure it met the expectations and needs of North American distributors, retailers, and end users.

The Hidden Challenge: Disorganized Data

Once product selection began, a deeper issue surfaced. There was no centralized, standardized dataset of parts information. Without a consistent structure, building a clean, accurate, and scalable catalog would be inefficient—and unsustainable.

Rather than working around this limitation, we addressed it head-on.

Building a Foundation for the Future

We took the initiative to design and develop a comprehensive, standardized parts data system. This wasn’t just about organizing information for the catalog—it was about creating a tool that could support Nornda’s operations long-term.

The new system allows for:

  • Consistent data entry across all product lines
  • Streamlined catalog creation and updates
  • Clear communication between teams
  • Scalable integration for future product development

Now, when new parts are introduced, Nornda’s team can easily input and manage product data within a structured framework—eliminating guesswork and reducing inefficiencies.

Driving Alignment Across Teams

One of the most valuable outcomes of this transformation is alignment. With a unified data system in place, every stakeholder operates from the same source of truth:

  • Design teams can build with clarity and accuracy
  • Sales teams can confidently represent products
  • Product development teams can maintain consistency from inception to launch

This level of transparency ensures that everyone—from SLAI to Nornda—is working in sync.

More Than a Catalog

In the end, the deliverable was far greater than a well-designed North American catalog. The project resulted in a sustainable data infrastructure—one that will continue to support Nornda’s growth, improve efficiency, and enhance collaboration for years to come.

What started as a catalog became a transformation—turning fragmented information into a powerful, scalable system that drives real business value.
